Purl's is proud to support local farmers in the Asheville and WNC area. These farmers are not only providing a localized supply chain for local fiber artists, but they are helping bring back some heritage breeds. Local fiber animals include alpacas, llamas, mohair goats, pygora goats, angora rabbits, and multiple sheep breeds including Jacob, Tunis, Merino, Corriedale, Shetland, Blue Faced Leicester, and Border Leicester.
Some of these yarns come in the natural color of the animal (EverThanks even includes a picture and name of the animal the fiber came from). Others have been hand-dyed giving you both gorgeous color and amazing fiber blends to work with. All these yarns are from the farm, literally, so you will find some vegetable matter in them. ;-)
Thank you for supporting local farmers in WNC!
